6 Days Lake Natron, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, depart from Arusha for Lake Manyara National Park. On arrival, enjoy a game drive through the park’s diverse habitats, including lush groundwater forest, open grasslands, acacia woodland, and the shores of the alkaline lake.

Lake Manyara is home to elephants, large troops of baboons, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, and a wide variety of birdlife. The park is also known for its tree-climbing lions, although sightings are not guaranteed. After a picnic lunch and afternoon wildlife viewing, continue to Karatu for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, leave Karatu and travel toward Lake Natron, passing through remote Maasai country and dramatic Rift Valley landscapes. The drive is an adventure in itself, offering views of volcanic terrain, open plains, traditional Maasai settlements, and, on clear days, the striking profile of Ol Doinyo Lengai, Tanzania’s only active volcano.

Lake Natron is a shallow alkaline lake at the foot of Ol Doinyo Lengai. It is an important breeding ground for lesser flamingos and attracts thousands of birds when conditions are favourable. Arrive at your camp, settle in, and enjoy the peaceful wilderness setting.

Depending on arrival time, you may take a guided walk to nearby waterfalls or explore the lake’s shoreline with a local Maasai guide.

After an early breakfast, depart Lake Natron and journey toward Central Serengeti. Travel through the northern Serengeti ecosystem, enjoying wildlife viewing as you enter Tanzania’s most famous national park.

The route passes through wide open plains and remote wilderness areas where wildlife can be encountered long before reaching your camp. Look out for zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, giraffes, elephants, hyenas, and predators along the way.

Arrive in Central Serengeti, known as Seronera, and enjoy an afternoon game drive. This area supports abundant wildlife throughout the year and is one of the best places in the Serengeti to search for lions, leopards, and cheetahs.

Spend a full day exploring the wildlife-rich plains of Central Serengeti. Your guide will select the best game-viewing areas according to the season and recent animal movements.

The Seronera Valley is particularly famous for resident predators, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and jackals. The area also supports large numbers of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, and many bird species. You may enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush, allowing more time for wildlife viewing without returning to camp during the day.

In the late afternoon, return to camp for dinner and an overnight stay surrounded by the sounds of the Serengeti.

After an early breakfast, leave Central Serengeti and travel toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a spectacular game drive on the crater floor.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife destinations. Its enclosed caldera supports an exceptional concentration of animals, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, hyenas, hippos, and, with luck, the rare black rhinoceros. The crater’s lakes and wetlands also attract flamingos and other birdlife.

Enjoy a picnic lunch near the hippo pool before ascending the crater and continuing to Karatu for dinner and relaxation.

After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park. Known for its giant baobab trees and large elephant populations, Tarangire offers a rewarding final safari experience.

Enjoy a game drive through the park, following the Tarangire River and surrounding plains where elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, impalas, warthogs, lions, and a variety of bird species can be seen. After a picnic lunch and final wildlife viewing, drive to Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.
