Tour Plan
Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park – Karatu
Your safari begins in the morning with collection from your hotel or another agreed location in Arusha. After meeting your professional safari driver-guide, travel southwest through the countryside toward Tarangire National Park.
Tarangire is known for its impressive baobab trees, beautiful savannah landscapes and large elephant populations. The Tarangire River is the park’s main source of water and attracts animals from the surrounding areas, particularly during the dry season.
During your game drive, look for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, impalas and warthogs. Predators such as lions, leopards and cheetahs also inhabit the park, although sightings depend on their movements. Tarangire is additionally recognised for its remarkable birdlife, with hundreds of species recorded within its varied habitats.
After exploring the park, continue toward the green highlands of Karatu. Arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner, relaxation and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Karatu – Lake Eyasi Cultural Experience – Karatu
Depart early in the morning for Lake Eyasi, a remote and culturally rich area situated southwest of the Ngorongoro Highlands. The journey takes you through rural landscapes, small villages and areas of traditional farming before reaching the shores of the seasonal soda lake.
Your cultural experience will introduce you to the Hadzabe, one of Tanzania’s last remaining hunter-gatherer communities. With the guidance of a local interpreter, you will learn about their traditional way of life, survival skills, use of medicinal plants and deep knowledge of the surrounding environment.
Depending on the community’s plans for the day, you may accompany members on a morning walk and observe how they track wildlife, identify edible plants and make traditional hunting tools. The experience provides a rare opportunity to understand a lifestyle that has been practised in the region for generations.
You will also visit the Datoga community, skilled pastoralists and metalworkers who live near Lake Eyasi. Learn about their family traditions, livestock-based lifestyle and metalworking techniques. You may see local artisans producing tools, jewellery and arrowheads using traditional methods.
After completing your cultural activities, drive back to Karatu for dinner and another comfortable overnight stay.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive – Arusha
After an early breakfast, travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and continue to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. From the viewpoint, admire the immense volcanic caldera before descending approximately 600 metres to the crater floor for your final game drive.
The Ngorongoro Crater contains an exceptional concentration of wildlife within a relatively compact area. Its grasslands, forests, wetlands and freshwater springs support wildebeest, zebras, buffaloes, gazelles, warthogs, hippos and many other animals.
The crater is also home to lions, spotted hyenas, jackals and elephants. It is one of Tanzania’s best places to search for the critically endangered black rhinoceros, although sightings cannot be guaranteed. Birdlife is abundant, with flamingos sometimes gathering around the crater’s soda lake.
Explore the crater floor with your guide before stopping at a designated picnic site for lunch. After completing the game drive, ascend the crater walls and begin your journey back to Arusha. You will arrive in the late afternoon or early evening, bringing your cultural and wildlife adventure to an end.
