The name Kisangara comes from the Swahili word for the African Paradise Flycatcher — one of Tanzania's most spectacular birds: fast, precise, and extraordinary in the right light. What defines
Kisangara.
We operate only in Tanzania. Sixteen years of specific, irreplaceable field knowledge spanning every park, ecosystem, and seasonal transition. We are not a regional operator who adds Tanzania to a list — we are a Tanzania operator, full stop.
Every Kisangara lead guide holds a formal degree in ecology or wildlife biology, plus TATO certification, plus three full field seasons as second guide before leading independently. A Kisangara guide does not describe wildlife — they explain it.
All seven Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series vehicles are owned and maintained by Kisangara. We have never used a subcontracted vehicle in sixteen years. We know exactly what is in each vehicle before every departure — because we put it there.
Every Kisangara expedition is entirely private. Your group, your guide, your vehicle. No shared departures with strangers. No compromise on pace. No itinerary adjustments to accommodate someone else's interests.
Your position in the Serengeti on any given day is determined by daily intelligence gathered from our guide network across the ecosystem — not a printed itinerary made eight months in advance. This is one of the most consequential differences between safari operators.
Every cost is itemised and disclosed before any deposit is paid. We receive no commission from accommodation or activity providers. Our recommendations exist because they are excellent — not because they pay us to recommend them.

Our guides are scientists first and hosts second. Every Kisangara expedition leader holds a formal academic qualification in ecology or wildlife biology — in addition to their TATO field guide certification. Three full field seasons as a second guide are required before leading independently.
