Our Founding Commitment

Born in Tanzania.
Built for Tanzania.

At Kisangara Tours, we believe that travel is more than just moving from one place to another — it is about creating stories that stay with you forever.

Based in Arusha, Tanzania, we specialise in crafting unforgettable journeys that combine breathtaking landscapes, rich cultures, and authentic experiences. Whether you seek the thrill of a game drive across the Serengeti, the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, or the tranquility of Zanzibar's beaches, our team is dedicated to making every moment meaningful.

The name Kisangara comes from the Swahili word for the African Paradise Flycatcher — one of Tanzania's most spectacular birds: fast, precise, and extraordinary in the right light. That is what we aspire to be. Every expedition we design carries that same standard: precise, considered, and extraordinary.

Our Philosophy

Simple. Considered.
Unwavering.

01
Personalized Service
Every itinerary. Designed around you.

No two Kisangara journeys are alike. We carefully design each itinerary to connect you with the heart of Tanzania — its wildlife, its people, and its timeless beauty. Your group, your pace, your priorities. We listen before we plan.

02
Responsible Travel
Travel that gives back to Tanzania.

We operate with deep respect for the ecosystems and communities that make Tanzania extraordinary. Our partnerships are with locally-owned suppliers. Our guiding practices minimise disturbance. Our camps leave no trace. Tanzania's future depends on travellers who understand its value.

03
Lasting Memories
From first inquiry to final farewell.

We pride ourselves on attention to detail, ensuring that every traveller feels valued, comfortable, and fully immersed in their journey. Choosing Kisangara Tours means choosing more than a trip — it means saying yes to timeless memories you will treasure for a lifetime.

KISANGARA
Our Belief

"Travel is not about destinations. It is about the moments that change how you see the world — and yourself."

Six Principles

What defines
Kisangara.

I
Tanzania Only
Complete Depth Over Breadth

We operate only in Tanzania. Sixteen years of specific, irreplaceable field knowledge spanning every park, ecosystem, and seasonal transition. We are not a regional operator who adds Tanzania to a list — we are a Tanzania operator, full stop.

II
Guide First
Ecologists Before Hosts

Every Kisangara lead guide holds a formal degree in ecology or wildlife biology, plus TATO certification, plus three full field seasons as second guide before leading independently. A Kisangara guide does not describe wildlife — they explain it.

III
Owned Fleet
Every Vehicle, Every Departure

All seven Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series vehicles are owned and maintained by Kisangara. We have never used a subcontracted vehicle in sixteen years. We know exactly what is in each vehicle before every departure — because we put it there.

IV
Private Always
Your Vehicle. Your Guide. Your Pace.

Every Kisangara expedition is entirely private. Your group, your guide, your vehicle. No shared departures with strangers. No compromise on pace. No itinerary adjustments to accommodate someone else's interests.

V
Positioning Intelligence
Where You Are Determines What You See

Your position in the Serengeti on any given day is determined by daily intelligence gathered from our guide network across the ecosystem — not a printed itinerary made eight months in advance. This is one of the most consequential differences between safari operators.

VI
Complete Transparency
No Hidden Costs. No Commission.

Every cost is itemised and disclosed before any deposit is paid. We receive no commission from accommodation or activity providers. Our recommendations exist because they are excellent — not because they pay us to recommend them.

Our Team

Passionate guides.
Expert advisors.

With years of experience in the travel and hospitality industry, our passionate guides and travel experts are committed to offering refined adventures that go beyond the ordinary.

Our guides are scientists first and hosts second. Every Kisangara expedition leader holds a formal academic qualification in ecology or wildlife biology — in addition to their TATO field guide certification. Three full field seasons as a second guide are required before leading independently.

They know the Serengeti's lion territories by pride name. They know which Tarangire baobab holds a leopard. They know which Ngorongoro waterhole the black rhino visits before dawn. This knowledge comes from years in the field, not from a guidebook.

What guests say.

“The most extraordinary wildlife experience of our lives. Our guide tracked a cheetah hunt from start to finish. Logistically flawless from first contact to final transfer.”

James & Claire W. London, United Kingdom · Northern Circuit · December 2024

“Our honeymoon exceeded every expectation. The private mobile camp, the pre-dawn crater descent, the bush dinner under the Milky Way. Kisangara delivered something genuinely private and considered.”

Sophie & Thomas B. Zurich, Switzerland · Honeymoon · August 2024

“Sixteen days. Five parks. One guide whose field knowledge was extraordinary and whose patience with our children was remarkable. Our seven-year-old is already planning a return trip.”

Common Questions

Frequently asked.

What makes Kisangara Tours different from other safari operators?
We operate exclusively in Tanzania — sixteen years of irreplaceable field knowledge across every park and season. Every expedition is entirely private with your own guide and vehicle. Our lead guides hold formal ecology or wildlife biology qualifications plus three full field seasons before leading independently. We own our entire fleet of Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series vehicles and never subcontract. Every cost is itemised and disclosed before deposit — no hidden fees, no commissions.
How far in advance should I book my safari?
For peak season travel (June through October, including the Great Migration river crossings), we recommend booking six to twelve months in advance. Premium lodges fill early. For shoulder and green season travel (November through May), three to six months is usually sufficient. Last-minute bookings are sometimes possible but limit accommodation choices significantly.
Is Tanzania safe for families with young children?
Absolutely. Tanzania is one of Africa's most welcoming destinations for families. We design family-specific itineraries with shorter game drives, child-friendly lodges, and guides experienced with young travellers. Most lodges welcome children from age five, and several camps have dedicated children's programmes.
What is included in the safari price?
Our quoted prices include all park entry fees, conservation fees, accommodation on a full-board basis, private vehicle and driver-guide, airport transfers, and bottled water. International flights, travel insurance, visa fees, tips, and personal purchases are not included. Every line item is disclosed in your proposal before any payment is made.
Can I combine a safari with Kilimanjaro or Zanzibar?
This is one of Tanzania's greatest advantages — the bush-to-beach or summit-to-safari combination is unique to this country. A typical combination is a five-to-seven-day northern circuit safari followed by three to five days on Zanzibar. For Kilimanjaro, most climbers prefer the summit first followed by a recovery day in Arusha before heading into the parks. All internal transfers handled end-to-end.
What is the best time of year to visit Tanzania?
Tanzania is a year-round destination. The dry season (June through October) delivers classic safari conditions with concentrated wildlife around water sources plus the Great Migration river crossings. The green season (November through May) offers lush landscapes, calving season in the southern Serengeti, fewer vehicles, and lower rates. We place you where the wildlife is regardless of season.
