Getting here

Kilimanjaro International (JRO)

JRO is the main gateway for northern safaris. Flights often connect via Nairobi, Amsterdam, Doha, Dubai, or London. The airport sits about 45km east of Arusha. Kisangara meets guests at arrivals with a name board — transfer to central Arusha usually takes 45–60 minutes.

Where to stay

Arusha overnight options

We book across budgets: central classics like Arusha Hotel, mid-range stays such as Mount Meru Hotel, boutique houses like Onsea House for a quiet pre-safari night, and lodges on the edge of town with Meru views. Overnight can sit inside your full itinerary.

What to do

Arusha in a day

Arusha National Park is about twenty minutes away — a half-day with giraffe, zebra, buffalo, and colobus in the forest. Cultural Heritage Centre is strong for art and Tanzanian gemstones. The Maasai Market near the Clock Tower is typically Thursday and Sunday mornings. A Chagga cultural walk works as a half-day from town.

Pre-safari briefing

Meeting your guide

Briefing is usually at our office or your hotel the evening before departure — about 45–60 minutes. You cover the day-by-day plan, parks, vehicle setup, photography notes, and last packing questions. Your guide uses it to learn what you care about most before the first drive.

Emergency line: 24 hours, shared at booking

WhatsApp on +255 755 002 886 is usually fastest during office hours — often within a couple of hours. Email to info@kisangaratours.com is answered within about a day. For longer itinerary talks, ask for a scheduled call or video chat that fits your timezone. We work in English and Swahili.
Yes. If you are in Arusha before a trip or passing through, message us ahead and we will set a time. We can walk maps, field guides, and sample plans. Give at least 24 hours’ notice — especially useful for longer or multi-country itineraries.
Your guide is with you day to day. For head-office help — logistics changes, camp issues, emergencies — you get a direct operations number at booking. It goes to someone who knows your itinerary, not a generic call centre. Guests also use WhatsApp alongside our radio network.
Yes. For booked guests we meet at JRO arrivals and drive you to your Arusha hotel or our office. Share your flight number in advance so the driver can track delays. The same applies for departures back to the airport after safari.
