Our experts craft bespoke itineraries tailored to your travel style, group size, and budget.
Every Kisangara safari is designed from a blank page. We begin with a conversation — your experience level, your interests, your available time, your budget, and the specific experiences you most want to have. From there we build an itinerary that cannot be found in a catalogue because it does not exist until we create it for you.
Tanzania offers a breadth of safari experience that most visitors underestimate: the Serengeti alone has three distinct zones with different wildlife concentrations and different character. Adding Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Southern Parks, or the remote west creates an entirely different itinerary each time. The choice of accommodation — mobile camp versus lodge, budget versus luxury, high-altitude versus plains — changes the experience entirely. The guide assigned to your trip is not random; it is a deliberate match of personality and expertise to your stated interests.
The minimum recommended safari in Tanzania is five nights. Three nights is possible but gives very limited depth. Seven nights begins to allow meaningful engagement with more than one ecosystem. Ten nights allows a comprehensive Northern Circuit with island extension. Fourteen nights allows a combination of the Northern Circuit, a southern parks extension, and a beach finale. Most guests who have done a short safari the first time return for a longer one; most guests who do a longer safari the first time do not understand how they spent so little time the first time.
Seven nights covering the core Northern Circuit: two nights Tarangire (elephant country), one night Lake Manyara (tree-climbing lions), one night Ngorongoro rim with full crater descent, three nights central Serengeti. This is the minimum itinerary that gives meaningful time in each park. Wildlife highlights: elephant in the thousands at the Tarangire River, crater floor with black rhino, Serengeti lion and cheetah. Suitable for first-time Tanzania visitors with limited time.
Ten nights with depth in each park: three nights Tarangire, two nights Manyara and Ngorongoro area, five nights Serengeti positioned according to season — central for year-round game viewing, northern for Mara crossings (July–October), southern Ndutu for calving (January–March). This itinerary gives adequate time in the Serengeti to follow wildlife activity across multiple drives and encounter multiple predator species. The recommended first-time itinerary for guests who have researched Tanzania seriously.
Seven nights safari (Northern Circuit with Serengeti focus) plus five nights Zanzibar island extension. The transition from the dust and drama of the Serengeti to the warm Indian Ocean is a single domestic flight. Zanzibar programme: one to two nights Stone Town UNESCO heritage, three nights north coast beach. Snorkelling, spice farm tour, and dhow sunset cruise included. This is the most popular Kisangara itinerary combination — the contrast between the two environments is genuinely extraordinary.
Fourteen or more nights allows a true comprehensive Tanzania experience: Northern Circuit (Tarangire, Manyara, Ngorongoro, Serengeti) plus one or more of the following extensions: Southern parks (Selous/Nyerere, Ruaha — for guests who want remote, wild Africa far from the standard circuit), Mahale Mountains (chimpanzee trekking via Lake Tanganyika boat), Kilimanjaro (added before or after the safari), island extension (Zanzibar, Pemba, or Mafia). These extended itineraries are what Tanzania genuinely deserves.
"I had read about Tanzania for two years before booking. The Kisangara specialist spent forty minutes on a call with me, asked questions I had not thought to answer, and produced a ten-night itinerary that was exactly what I wanted and better than anything I could have designed myself."
Dr. Robert L.Edinburgh · Northern Circuit · October 2024"We had done two safaris before. We came to Kisangara because we wanted something different — the places that are not on the standard circuit. They delivered: Mahale Mountains by boat, two nights on Lake Tanganyika, chimpanzees and no other vehicles. That is Africa."
